I know this will probably open a Pandora's Box, but; Have a 2001 Ranger 3.0 with about 100,000 miles. Been using 5-20 oil, but live in Florida. Guess I don't need to tell you have freakin' hot it is here in summer. Can I run 10-30 oil without issues? Thanks for any responses.

 

Ford usually says what oil to run on the dip stick, and sometimes on the oil cap. Most engines of that vintage run 10w30 in hot climates. Ford may spec 5w30 since some folks have winters where the 5w30 is better. Both are 30 weight when warmed up. My '99 recommends 5w30.

 

I run 10w30 (also in FL) with no issues.
